A good rule of thumb when decorating your first home is – Keep It Simple. Sofas, dining and bedroom suites can be major purchases. Therefore they should be of neutral design and colours in order to take you through changing styles and stages over the next few years.
And since this is your first attempt at home decorating, you should have a good idea of who you are. Are you Traditional? Contemporary? Casual? Or a bit of everything? Here’s a good way to find out: Buy some home decorating magazines and cut out all the furniture fashion pictures you like best. Now place them all on the floor and you’ll begin to see that most of the time, you chose the same colours, furniture designs and fabrics over and over. Now you know who you are.
